Funderburk’s artworks featured in international publications in summer ‘23

Summer ’23 magazines The Best of Watercolor and Artists Magazine currently feature watercolor works by Mississippi artist Brent Funderburk.

Winners of the Splash #24 Art, to be presented in The Best of Watercolor, the annual magazine published by Artists Magazine and American Artist, were awarded as Finalists by juror Jean Haines. The international juried exhibition presents “… a showcase …of 100+ examples of exceptional talent and exciting technique by watermedia artists”.

Funderburk was one of only seven chosen from the 103 artists to exhibit two artworks. The artist’s paintings “Shining Stone” and “Intermittent” can be seen in ”Earth and Sky” and “Still Life and Flora” sections of the periodical, respectively. Both are part of the series “Re-Inflorescence- A Second Flowering,” which can be viewed on the artist’s website.

“Shining Stone”, a watercolor painting created by Funderburk in 2020, can also be found in the pages of the July/August 2023 issue of Artists Magazine, published by ArtNetwork/Golden Peak Media. The article “Special Sneak Peek: 14 Artists Who are Making a Splash”, reveals works and statements by selected artists from the “Splash 24” competition.

Brent Funderburk is a retired William L. Giles Distinguished Professor of Art Emeritus at Mississippi State University, where he has taught for 36 years. His recent work was exhibited in one-person shows “flowering Earth” in 2023 (The Mary C. O’Keeffe Cultural Arts Center, Ocean Springs, MS) and “Here and There” in 2021 (Cullis-Wade Depot Gallery at the MSU Welcome Center, Mississippi State University).
