Funderburk’s paintings featured in international publications in 2019, 2020

Brent Funderburk’s watercolor paintings “Soul House (Red)” (2019), and “Anteroom” (2019) are featured in the summer ’19 international magazine “Creative Quarterly: The Journal of Art and Design”. The artist’s works were selected by jury with those by 12 other artists in the “Professional Fine Art” category, four of which, including Funderburk, who had two pieces chosen. In addition to these Awards of Excellence, Funderburk also was given a Runner Up Award for his 2019 painting “Blood Moon“. All will be featured as well in the Creative Quarterly Online Gallery.

Creative Quarterly is an international journal focusing on promoting the best work in graphic design, illustration, photography and fine art, with competitions open to all artists, designers and photographers at all levels—professionals, students, amateurs—in all countries.

123 artists had artworks selected for the 2019 “Splash 20: Creative Compositions” from the “Best of Watercolor” series, a hardback volume published by Artists Network/North Light Books. Funderburk’s “Angelus Vitae” (2017) and “Oaxaca” (2009-2014) will be featured in the book. Juror Rachel Rubin Wolf selected winners from over 1,100 artists worldwide, with 6 of these, including Funderburk, had two awarded works chosen. The book will be available in July 2019 (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.)

Funderburk’s watercolor paintings, “Soul House (Red)” and “Blood Moon”, from 2019’s “Re-inflorescence (A Second Flowering)” series will appear in the 2020 publication “Splash 21: Capturing Mood”. An international juried competition (Jamie Markel, juror), the survey will present work by 118 artists, Funderburk being one of 12 who had two pieces chosen for the book. “A brilliant representation of contemporary watercolor” (North Light Books), Splash is the world’s longest running “best of watercolor” published competition series.

Brent Funderburk resides in Starkville, Mississippi, where he is a William L. Giles Distinguished Professor Emeritus associated with Mississippi State University for 36 years.

Creative Quarterly and Splash are available at all major bookstores, including Barnes & Noble and Books A Million, and are available at Amazon online.
